Manufactured by the
Swedish firm of Pist & Terrangteknik AB the
Hiller TDi is the newest in a long line of tracked
machinery manufactured by this long established firm.
Readers may recall the GARRON manufactured by the same
company, currently in extensive use in the Highlands of
Scotland for mountain rescue and recovery work and power
cable and pipeline maintenance operations. The HILLER has air-suspension on
three axles, a modern comfortable cab with suspension
seats and heater, and offers excellent all-round
visibility and ease of driving position and controls for
the operator. It's design is very much state of the art
and the 100E (Electronic) variant has an LCD management
system for hydraulics, engine, safety alarms and fault
search and plug-in computor diagnostic. The heart of the
machine is a VW 1.9 litre turbo diesel engine driving
through a hydrostatic transmission system, and offering
power-take-off applications via a triple hydrostatic pump
at 25-65 hp. Tracks are available from 500mm U-profile
grouser bars in hi-grade steel to 800mm width in either
alloy "L" or "A" profiles.
Fuel economy and
durability and exhaust emission levels meet the EURO 2
standards, and hydrostatic gearing gives maximum torque
of 4000kg at speeds of up to 20km/h.
